Materials:

Construction paper, Paint, Photograph of child, Poem of your choice

Instructions:

Use 1 large piece of construction paper for the placemat. From another piece of construction paper cut a heart. Paint one of the child's hands and have the child make a handprint on the heart shape. Glue this onto one side of the construction paper. In the center of the paper write the poem you have selected. On the other side you can glue a photograph of the child obtained from the parents or perhaps taken during class. Once complete the picture can be laminated or contact paper can be used to preserve it. If you would like you can have the child decorate the back of his/her placemat. Don't forget the date!
